Here comes Ike

Edit: Janae made it through the storm but said it was very loud and scary. She stayed with the neighbors and they all lost power and part of a tree fell on the neighbors house but her house was fine. Tyler made it home on Monday. They spent the week grilling up the meat from the freezer before it spoiled.

Big winds here on Sat. night but not much actual rain.

The last word from Janae...she was going to grill some burgers for her neighbors and hopefully she slept some this afternoon when things calmed down. Now they will deal with no power but hopefully not for too long.

Looks like we are in for a wet night!

Hurricane Ike

Janae is prepared but a little scared (she lives north of Houston). She plans to hang out with her neighbors and she has my friend and her husband as a back up. Tyler is flying so he won't get back in until after the storm. Pray for everyone in this area.

31 and eight

photos 2007 and 1977

Last year we celebrated their 30th anniversary. We kind of knew Daddy’s health was going down and now eight months without him that celebration is even more special.

Hugs to Betty thinking of you today...hope you feel better soon. (she's recovering from carpal tunnel surgery).

August update

I've been a bad blogger these days. There is a lot going on and I'm trying to keep up or sometimes I'm mindlessly playing canasta or rummy on the computer.

Here is what I've been up to:

Collecting the money for my 30th High School reunion Sept. 19th and 20th. http://shsclass78.blogspot.com/ We've had fun visiting and planning every month and we hope everyone will come enjoy catching up with old friends. Getting reacquainted as we approach the big 5-0 will be interesting too.

Collecting money and organizing our annual scrapbooking retreat in October.

Planning Janae and Tyler's March 28th wedding. Vendors and venues are in place! Now we are working on the dresses, decor and details.

Krysta moved to LR to be closer to school but she did most of it herself. I did go hang her pictures and curtians and now her apartment looks very cute. My upstairs looks very empty! (Add shop for new bedding and curtians to my list).

Cancer is popping up in the lives of several families we know and one of my best friends lost her hubby last week. Prayers would be appreciated as she deals with her loss and for the others dealing with chemo and strengh.

Birthday wishes to my Betty/Mom! We had a nice visit and dinner out on Tuesday night. Callie and Brooke brought her a cake Wed. the special day!

I had a nice visit and lunch with my Aunt Christine and cousin Leslie last week.

All the neices and nephew seemed to have a good first day of school.
The nephew started 3rd grade.
Two started 6th grade.
One is in 8th and
The oldest is a junior!!!

Summer flew by! We are looking forward to having everyone over for a last pool party on the holiday weekend. I hope we get some sun this week to warm up the pool!

And to end this post on a cute note! Callie is 9 1/2 mos. now! Check out those toofies!

Back from Vacation

We went to Houston last week to see Janae and Tyler. She is driving us all over the place and I was impressed on how well she was getting around. We worked on wedding plans and ideas too. Thanks B & B for the wonderful lodging and visit!

Visited Johnson Space center and Kemah. Went to a mall or 2 also.

We returned Wed. long enough to mow and headed to NWA for the 4th with the Sanders gang.

Kemah is nice but go in the spring or fall! It's hot!
