Friends and flowers

Busy month with a visitor from SC and entertaining while she was here so everyone could see her. A few of us went over to the last showing of the Southern Living designer home in Hot Springs (very pretty)...and then my first visit to Woodland Garvan Gardens. We lucked into a beautiful day and lovely azaleas, tulips, hydrangea tree, ferns, waterfalls...it is wonderful over there. We were directed to a great lunch place too.

Here is a sampling of the photos and some of my bird watching in the backyard.

Planting

Yesterday I bought and planted flowers. Today I'm sore but enjoy looking at my work. I built and planted that stacked thing. Here is the link. Moved some hostas and added color to that corner bed. All it needs now is a manedvilla the corner.

We also have a family of robins in the tree outside our back door. Mommy and Daddy Robin are busy feeding the new babies. We can stand in the kitchen window and see in the nest a little and watch them sit and feed. They don't like that we walk by there all the time. Renters can't be choosey though! (Here ya go Sally!

my chair

I had this chair recovered and pillows
made for the sofa. The pop of color is great.

The lady did a great job on it. If you ever need a name she is in Cabot and I'll be glad to pass it on.

3 months

The weeks are ticking by and it is hard to believe it's been 3 months since Daddy died. As we move into spring with the trees and flowers blooming, gardens being planted you know life goes on and he would want us to enjoy spring. (even if it is a soggy one). The dogwoods are in full bloom and the azaleas are popping out here. My friend Sally took pictures of spring in SW AR and shared here. Her lovely yard here. I'm not sure I've seen a red honeysuckle before. Daddy loved trees and I loved that I could ask him what tree was what.

On the soggy note: Driving down Cantrel road yesterday with my friend we saw many lovely dogwoods. Just beyond this area there are many still cleaning up from the tornado last week. We didn't venture into the area but I know it will be sad to see all the big lovely trees gone. I have many memories of walking the streets of Cammack Village with Cindy S. playing in the park and swimming at the pool.

I'm off to Hot Springs this morning to visit Garvan Gardens with some friends. I'll have more spring photos to share soon!

This touched my heart this morning.....

God looked around His garden
and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth
and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
and lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough
and the hills were hard to climb,
so He closed your weary eyelids
and whispered “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you
but you didn't go alone, for part of us
went with you the day God called you home.

Happy Birthday Janae!!

Happy Birthday daughter #1. Hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend!

A quarter of a century old...wow!
We love you and are very proud of you.

I remember :

  • when you didn't have hair!
  • when you were scared of doggies.
  • when you worried about getting locked in stores when they were closing.
  • that you have always been a sweetheart!

Weekend and Layout

Quiet weekend at home with dreary rain and even a thunderstorm or two. Our gage reads over 2". I played Rachel Ray and with Janae's help cooked a couple of different 30 min. meals this weekend. Both were a flavorful success. They take us longer than 30 mins.

I did this lesson today while watching movies. Learned to make the ring here and practiced several techniques I've learned. Sweet photos of the Callie girl -thanks to sister for sharing! She is a fun scrapping subject.
